About Renaissance Center
The key concept of the Tama University Renaissance Center is that of the "Open Knowledge University." We believe that expert knowledge and profound intelligence are not limited to the realm of universities, but that they are also widely dispersed throughout society. An important role of the university in this century is to create places and opportunities where knowledge can be mutually developed by networking the various types of knowledge and intelligence scattered throughout society. This idea was the inspiration for the center’s concept of an “Open Knowledge University.”
With this important concept in mind, the Renaissance Center has focused on a number of themes currently required by society and offered open and unique campus classes for all members of society. The lecturers for each class include not only the teachers of Tama University, but also current researchers, business people, CEOs, artists, and architects. For example, the Renaissance Center has offered a year-long course entitled "Growing CEOs in their 40s" since 2002. The objective of this course is to train young business leaders to be able to work globally. As a result, the course has been rated very positively by society. The Tama University Renaissance Center is located on the Shinagawa Campus.
